Supporting Compliance During a Period of Major ChangeLarge-scale infrastructure transformations are challenging under normal circumstances. For our client, the complexity was significantly higher. The company was in the middle of a global digital transformation program aimed at modernizing identity, device management, and security across the enterprise. At the same time, one of its regional offices faced regulatory requirements that demanded a dedicated IT environment separate from the broader corporate structure.
The office employed approximately 1,000 people and had historically operated within the organization's centralized on-premises Active Directory infrastructure. Meeting compliance obligations required creating a distinct identity environment while maintaining business continuity, security standards, and alignment with the company's modernization roadmap. The client needed a solution that would achieve both objectives simultaneously: regulatory compliance and cloud adoption.
Designing a Dedicated Identity ArchitectureOur first priority was to design an architecture capable of isolating the office from the broader corporate environment while preserving operational efficiency and minimizing disruption to users. Working within the existing forest structure, our team designed a new Active Directory environment tailored to the office's regulatory requirements. The architecture was carefully planned to ensure clear administrative boundaries, secure identity management, and seamless coexistence with wider infrastructure.
Building the Foundation for Hybrid IdentitySince the organization was simultaneously modernizing its IT landscape, the new environment had to support a future-ready hybrid model rather than simply replicating legacy infrastructure. To achieve this, we integrated the newly established Active Directory environment with Microsoft Entra ID, enabling hybrid identity capabilities across the dedicated office.
User accounts, groups, and devices were migrated and synchronized into the hybrid directory, providing consistent access to corporate resources while laying the groundwork for cloud-based management and security services. Throughout the migration process, careful planning and phased execution ensured a smooth transition with minimal impact on employees and day-to-day operations.
Modernizing Device Management and SecurityIdentity modernization was only one part of the transformation. To provide centralized control and improve endpoint governance, we introduced Microsoft Intune as the foundation for modern endpoint management. Devices were enrolled into the new management framework, enabling streamlined administration, policy enforcement, and improved visibility across the environment.
At the same time, advanced Microsoft cloud security solutions were implemented to strengthen protection for identities, devices, and corporate data. The new security model aligned with broader digital transformation objectives while supporting local compliance requirements. The result was a secure and manageable hybrid workplace environment capable of supporting both current regulatory needs and future business growth.
Delivering Compliance and Modernization in ParallelBy the end of the project, the client had successfully established a new architecture.
- A dedicated Active Directory environment designed to meet local compliance requirements
- Hybrid identity synchronization through Microsoft Entra ID
- Successful migration of users and devices with minimal business disruption
- Modern endpoint management with Microsoft Intune
- Enhanced security through Microsoft's cloud-native security capabilities
- A scalable foundation for future cloud adoption initiatives
What began as a regulatory requirement became an opportunity to accelerate modernization, helping the client achieve compliance objectives while building a more secure, flexible, and future-ready IT environment.
